Brick Crack Repair
Brick crack repair is our specialty. Cracks in brick, stone, and stucco are often the result of foundation problems, but may also be caused by deterioration, foundation settlement, vehicle damage, design flaw, or a combination of these factors. Left untreated, masonry cracks can lead to further damage from structural instability and water leaking.
Solution: Our exclusive Chameleon Compound is a patented synthetic product that has tested superior to traditional materials in masonry crack repair.
At the hands of a skilled technician Chameleon is expertly mixed for a custom color and texture match. The specially formulated acrylic fuses with the existing material and offers the additional properties of flexibility that is critical to achieving a lasting repair as the structure continues normal movement & settling.
Chameleon, as its name suggests, can be applied to any masonry surface – brick, mortar, stucco, etc. – and leaves the repair virtually undetectable.
Crack Repair Experts
The first critical step in any brick crack repair is to properly identify what needs to be done. Some minor imperfections in your brickwork may not require repair at all, such as fine hairline cracks or minor erosion of mortar. However, delaying other repairs could allow damage to other components of your home.
For example, broken brick and cracked mortar joints wider than 1/16” not only look bad, but also allow water to penetrate that can lead to additional problems.
Proper Brick Matching is Essential: Damaged, cracked, or severely deteriorated brick should almost always be sawed out of the wall and replaced with new bricks. If matching brick is unavailable, we have a huge network of vendors to find the exact match. We not only have a large inventory of rare and hard-to-find brick, but we also specialize in ‘brick cloning‘ to ensure an exact match.

What You Need To Know About Cracked Bricks
When you’ve decided that it’s time to fix those pesky brick cracks around the exterior of your home or building, it’s vital to start the brick crack repair process correctly. Before any brick work is to be done, the first step is determine the cause of the brick cracks because if you do not address the root cause of the cracked bricks then the bricks will surely crack soon after they’re repaired.
The primary cause of cracked bricks in the Greater Houston Area is shifting or settling foundations. This occurs when the soil underneath your home or building’s foundation begins to shift or settle. This is nothing to be immediately alarmed by as all foundations move, it’s just a matter of controlling the extent of the movement.
If you are experience shifting or settling then it’s time to call in a foundation expert that can come in and evaluate the foundation and confirm that it is “performing as intended” (that’s inspector and foundation jargon for “everything is OK”). Also, the foundation assessment should be FREE and if the assessor is using anything other than a yellow Ziplevel device, let them finish up and listen to what they say and then never call them again. We’ve seen “assessors” use a hand level on a door frame and then hand over a $20,000 quote for foundation repair.
The real pros will provide an electronic report with digital height readings for each corner of the property.
There are definitely plenty of foundation companies to choose but it’s important to know a little before making any calls.
In our experience, there are two types of foundation companies. Type A will assess the foundation and insert piers only where needed to level the structure out. Type B will insert ALL new piers around the perimeter to level off the structure.
As you can guess, both of these companies can help you achieve your desired results of a functioning and level foundation. The only difference is the cost. Piers are what hold the foundation up and are sold on a per pier basis. That means the more piers the higher the cost.
This doesn’t mean foundation company B is any worse than foundation company A, it’s just a different strategy.
Going with the full perimeter foundation repair means that it’ll be much likelier to get that company to come back out and honor the lifetime warranty IF the foundation begins to settle again.
If you elected for foundation company A, we’ve found it’s harder to get the company to honor any warranty work because it’s usually hard to justify the covered foundation work if only some piers are new and you can’t prove that the old piers had nothing to do with the movement.
